Today is the last day of Borneo International Kite Festival 2010 at Bintulu... Had a extremely wonderful day there. It is so happening.. with lots of kites ranging from small to big flying simultaneously in the beautiful blue sky.

Big big Fish

Fish: Noo...the shark is just behind
Shark 1: U r going to be in my mouth pretty soon... Hahaha
Shark 2: Noo...fish is friends, not food (Finding Nemo, 2003). This sentence was actually quoted from Lim Guan Miaw

Sebastian in the Air

Colourful Stingray

Another Stingray... relative maybe?

Lets open our mouth big big to let the air in~~

Lots and lots of eagle in the sky

Oh ya...did u knew that... Bintulu is also attempting to make a record to enter The Malaysia Book of Records entitled "The Most Number of Train Kites Flying Simultaneously"

Have u ever seen spongebob flying in the sky??

Bear~ Kawaii!!

Squid??

I have seen fish, stingray, crabs, squid and even scuba diver kites here... Probably this year's theme is on underwater world??

Besides getting to see lots of kites with various design, u can also bring a kite and get them stamped to entitled u for a lucky draw entry... Furthermore, let your kite up to the sky~ Bintulu will be having this festival annually. So, for those who havent been to this festival, u should go there next year.. For those who went there before, pls continue to support this event!!

P/s: The main disadvantage going to this festival is that i am getting tanner than i was before.. So, as a reminder, pls apply sunblock and bring cap..

Chap Goh Meh

Yesterday nite, Dr JB has an open house for the Chap Goh Meh celebration... Approximately 50 UPM students went there. We eat, chat, drink and play cards.. But, unfortunately, happy moments passes extremely quick... The clock almost strikes twelve and we were like cinderella, rushing to get back into campus before the gate was locked!!!

Chap Goh Meh, also known as 'yuan siao chie' is the fifteen(or last) day of CNY. In Chinese tradition, girls that are still single will write their name and contact no on a 'kam' and throw it to a river whereas the guys will pick up the kam and contact the gals. So, today is also known as Chinese Valentine's Day~ I've seen this kind of event happening in Penang, but not here in Bintulu...

Chun Kit gave me a suprise pressie~~~ wee~~
Inside the cute teddy box, lots of pressie can be found. Nike sport shoe, cute bear bear, Sony MP3 player, trendy Lee sliper and lots of colourful paper stripes that wrote I LOVE U in different languages. The stripe with the longest sentence sounds like this:

"I, Chun Kit will always love, adore, appreciate, cherish, dream, live, respect, want, value, need, fond , thank and yearn you. You are my angel, life, strength, treasure, sunshine, world, light, joy, partner, heart, wings, twinkle and the one for me".

Wow... not like Chun Kit at all... Thanks for the love, care and everything... I LOVE U MORE THAN I CAN SAY!! Muaks~~

CNY 2010

Hi dudes, how was ur CNY celebration this year??

Fireworks in Bintulu was pretty amazing.. this is my first time celebrating CNY outside of UPMKB. Pom!! Poom!!! Pooomm!!! I was amazed with the 'richness' of ppl in Bintulu. The fireworks began at 11.45pm on 'Chu Si Ye' and non-stop fireworks can be seen around Bintulu area till approximately 12.30am on 'Nian Chu Yi'.

Chun Kit and me had steamboat on Chu Si Ye, but most of the ingredients was those left over from the other day our gangs had steamboat... We managed to clear all the ingredients except for prawns and veges (wong bak and brocolli)... Why we bought some many types of veges anyway? hmm...wondering...

Nian Chu Yi is the busiest day.... (we reach home around 7pm...damn tiring) @-@... but we had fun... First, we went to Dr Joseph's house, then to Kiing's house and to Ling Chie's house. The foods served was delicious.... Yum yum!!! Thanks for the food and ang pao ya~~~ :)

What happened to the prawns and veges?

They was kept at the refrigerator till we have time to cook them.. Prawns became pepper prawns and we 'cing chau' the veges.. and a simple fried chicken and rice presenting our dinner for the third day of CNY.

Count down to ROAR year~

Chinese New Year is around the corner!!! Whee~~~
3 more days to go to step into the Tiger year. ROAR!!!! Let go all the bad luck thing in the Niu year and wish for all awesomeness in the Tiger year. Make sure to check whether u are 'fan tai sui'. If yes, fast fast go to temple and get some blessing so that ur coming year would be smooth. Or else, u'll be in deep shit as u gona 'Tao tao pong chuok hak'.

Lots of contest available in the internet specially to celebrate the upcoming CNY and Valentines's day... But... unfortunately, i didnt get the prize and get bored after trying out several times... :(

McD which is a famous fast food restaurant that has managed to capture the heart of all ages (no matter is children, teenager, adults and even ah kong and ah ma) launched 'Be Properous! contest that start on 14 Jan and lasted till 20 Feb 2010. All u guys have to do is answer the simple quiz every single day and see if u were the lucky one to be the 88th winner to won RM10 McD voucher.

Simple rite?? but i couldnt even get one... *sobs*

Then U2 launched 2 contest to stand a chance to win a pair of U2 couple watch worth RM678. (Both contest has ended)
The first one is to upload a picture of u n ur love one. The picture that received the highest votes win. Is just that easy.

The second one is to play a simple puzzle game. But u have to compete with other participant in terms of time and steps taken to play the game. The one that get the highest score win the daily couple watch... Wish i had one!!!

What's the most important during CNY?? ANGPAO?? yes, it may be true... But reunion dinner is even more important rite? Hope that u agree with me. 13th of Feb (Chu Si Ye) will be the day where family member sit down together to have reunion dinner. Usually, during 'Chu Si Ye', those celebrating CNY will have a steamboat dinner.

14th of Feb (Nian Chu Yi) is the first day of the year in the chinese calender. My family and my mother's siblings usually went to my ah kong and ah ma house for Nian chu yi and nian chu er to celebrate CNY. That particular day will be the gambling day whereby all the adults and even teenager start to take money out to earn extra angpao money... At the same time, adults that has married will also give angpao to those not married. Wish my angpao this year all BIG BIG one!!! haha~~

Car, laptop or camera?

Folks, if u were me, a 20+ lady, of all the three stuff, which one would u choose?

First thing that came in mind is MONEY!!!! Haven’t start to earn money yet, but there are a lot of stuff in mind that I wanted to buy… but… question is HOW to buy???

Dr rajan want to sell off his car at rm6000. It’s a saga aeroback, 10years old d… Is it worth to buy? Chun kit and me was thinking for a few days d bout this matter..

Pros:

I can learn driving

Can carry stuff to do research project

Can go out on rainy day, without being the ‘chicken soup'

Can go out on special day, with nice clothing

Cons:

Money… Is the car too expensive?

Can we be able to sell it off after using for 3-4 years??

Thinking twice:

Do we really need a car?????

Arghh…getting more n more fed up on my laptop d…It’s a 4 years old plus laptop with only 512 DDR ram.. DDR ram!!! Can u imagine how slow is it…it is like a snail moving slowly on the road/ floor, anytime will die due to people/car stepping on it…Same things goes to my laptop..

I have been planning for such a long time in getting a DSLR camera…

Thinking of buying either a Nikon or Canon DSLR camera…

In my mind currently is Nikon 3000D, Nikon 5000D and Canon EOS 450D… Anyone has better idea to suggest?

Shopping for CNY treats~ :)

First day of CNY or commonly known as 'nian chu yi' in mandarine for 2010, which is the year of tiger will definately be a special yet marvelous day... U KNOW Y??? i bet u know!!!

VALENTINE's day falls on the very first day of CNY, dudes!!!

As I am stuck in Bintulu Sarawak during CNY due to my research and also the expensive flight ticket to Penang, spending a little bit more of money on treats for CNY is what I am going to do... haha :) so happy thinking of CNY, but unhappy when pocket 'berlubang' due to overspending...

I just spend approximately RM150 on snacks! GOSH!!! can u believe it?!! Lists of materials that has been bought for this coming CNY are:-
1. Pineapple tarts
2. Wafer sticks
3. Dried pork and chicken meat
4. Egg rolls/ Kuih kepit
5. Tit bits ranging from honey dates, dried sliced plums, cuttlefish and soft candy
6. Cake
7. Dahfa dried fish fillet
8. Drinks ranging from carbonated drinks such as 100plus and Pepsi to non-carbonated drinks such as soya bean, cincau, fruit trees canned drinks.

Variety of snacks has been bought for this CNY, but will it be enough? *wondering*

Bad Day :(

Wat an extremely UNLUCKY day...
First: kena conned by JST bout the microbial identification training..

Then: during eating lunch, some parts of my teeth break out while i am bitting that stupid stony salted fish.. Damn it!!! Arghhh!!!

Third: Called to make an appointment to fix the teeth... But once again, i am so unlucky that the appointment for this week is full d!!! A louder ARGHHHHHH came out from my mouth... Have to wait till next tuesday to get my cavity fixed... :( . No more smily face from this week till nex monday...

Conned by JST

Supposingly, there will be a training on microbial identification today at 8.30am in microbiology lab... Chun kit, me and some postgrad students waited up there for half n hour or more... ended up hearing ppl telling that the microbial identification machine has not been set up YET!!! WAlao.. ask ppl to go but the machine not set up yet?!!

Luckily kak siti fatimah saw us waiting outside the lab and told us that the training will be held this afternoon at 2pm. this is wat we called as "MAlaysian time"... So PUNCtual!!

Seribu Bintang, Bintulu

Just discovered a place in bintulu that serve yummy malay dishes..Seven of us went there to try out the dishes. The unique feature of this 'makan-makan' place of Seribu Bintang is the 'pondok' that were limited; specially build with bamboos and woods to provide an ambient environment for their customers. There were no chairs in this type of pondok, however cushions were provided for customers. Customers can choose to sit in crossed leg or even flexed their leg after a long and tiring day to enjoy their very delicious meals. This type of pondok reminds me of Japan style, where they also sit on cushions to take their meals. The pondok is limited, hence, if u wana try it, u better go before 7.00pm as many of the space will be occupied after that.

A variety of foods provided here, from chicken, mutton, lamb, prawn and etc.... u name it.. Some of the menu i remembered is nasi lemak with a variety of different different ingredients. There is nasi lemak with chicken percik, butter prawn, chicken rendang, fried prawn, chicken tandoori, lamb, quail and even deer meat can be found here...

I ordered nasi lemak with butter prawn and chicken tandoori (RM7.90).
The proportion of the foods is acceptable, and the displays were perfect. There are also side dishes such as preserved carrot n cucumber, keropok, ikan bilis with nuts and egg. The butter prawn is nice, but it would be delicious if the prawns were fresh. The chicken tandoori is a bit hard but it is still acceptable.

Chun Kit [my lou gung jai or in other words, future husband] ordered lamb chop with black pepper sauce (RM 11.90).
The lamb chop was perfect whereby u won’t feel the chewy chewy feeling of lamb. Side dishes associated with this dish are mashed potato, salad and french fries, served with chilli sauce. The mashed potato actually did suprise me with the tastes. Soft, finely mashed potato that melts in ur mouth served with its homemade sauce. DELIcious!!!

As Chun Kit likes the lamb so much, he ordered another dish with lamb, which is the lamb curry (RM 6.50). The curry was so damn nice, and eating it with plain rice/ nasi lemak are suggested. The lamb was cooked to perfection, and again no chewy chewy feeling!!! :)

Others ordered curry mee (RM 6.00), Nasi ayam penyek (RM8.00), Nasi with satays (RM8.00) Nasi briyani with chicken (RM 7.00), and Curry lamb rice set (RM8.90). For me, i think the dish that worth the price is the nasi ayam penyek and nasi briyani with chicken that comes with a whole chicken leg. Yumm yumm!!!

The cats also serves as a attraction in this particular place as the cats are partially like servants; walking around the table n pondok to make their customers happier.
Cautions: cats may jump up to the pondok anytime. So, if u are afraid of cats, then dun sit near to the open area of the pondok....

Try this place out n i can ensure u that, u will surely recommend this place to ur fren...
